Relationships Education, Relationship (RSE)

By the end of secondary school:

Schools should continue to develop knowledge on topics specified for the primary RSE curriculum as required and in addition cover content in the following topic areas by the end of secondary school:

  • Families
  • Respectful relationships, including friendships
  • Online & media
  • Being safe
  • Intimate and sexual relationships, including sexual health

Relationships and Sex Education, (RSE)

Relationships and Sex Education will build on the teaching at primary. It aims to give young people the information they need to help them develop healthy, nurturing relationships of all kinds. RSE content covers what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like and what makes a good friend, colleague and successful marriage or committed relationship. At the appropriate time, the focus will move to developing intimate relationships, to equip young people with knowledge they need to make safe, informed and healthy choices as they progress through adult life. At Winfred Holtby Academy the above RSE topics are taught via the PSHCE curriculum. Click on the related link below to view the 2022/23 RSE programme for both KS3 and KS4 year students:
